How to Get Spectacular Professional Headshots
Professional headshots can be a fabulous investment for your career, regardless of the industry you're in. They help you to create a more respectable image online and in other professional contexts like conferences. If you want to get the best headshots, it starts with booking an excellent headshot photographer (like my Hickory photography studio), but there are other ways you can further make sure your headshots will have the look and style you want. Check out these top tips for your headshots.
-
Think About Your Professional Brand
Your headshot is all about creating the professional image you want the world to see, and that image won't be the same for everyone. Before your photo session, give some thought to your personal "brand." How do you want people in your industry to see you? Are you going for a corporate feel or something more easygoing and approachable? Powerful? Friendly? Think about the brand you want to cultivate and communicate this to your photographer so I can design your photo shoot to fit that brand.
-
Match Your Outfit to Your Brand
Speaking of your personal brand, this should factor into your wardrobe selection too. If you want a corporate look, for example, go for a conventional suit or blazer in a simple color like black, gray, or navy. If you want your look to be a bit less traditional, you could opt for an office-appropriate top without a blazer, or a button-up shirt with a colored tie.
Having a hard time picking out your outfit? I can help! I'm happy to give all my clients guidance on their wardrobe and what will photograph best for the look they want.

Build Space Into Your Schedule
A headshot photo session isn’t something to squeeze into your schedule. If you're rushing to the session because of time constraints, you may not be able to get your hair and makeup ready the way you want, or you might get sweaty while rushing to the studio. At the same time, if you schedule something for immediately after your session, you'll be watching the clock and trying to rush through each pose, and that stress isn't the look you want for your headshots. Arrange for plenty of time before and after your photoshoot - you'll have a better experience and your photos will be better too.
-
Relax!
The best photos always happen when you're able to relax and be yourself, and professional headshots are no exception. You hired a professional photographer for a reason. I'll guide you through all the posing and all the other tips and tricks throughout your session. Simply sit back, relax, and trust me to create the spectacular headshots you want .
